Privacy Policy — Fold Stats

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Publisher: Dragman Labs · App: com.foldcounter.si

The short version

Fold Stats collects no data. The app has no internet permission, so it is technically incapable of sending anything anywhere. There are no ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs, no accounts and no cloud.

What the app stores on your device

To do its job, Fold Stats keeps the following only on your device, in a local database:

  • Fold events detected from your device's hinge-angle sensor (timestamps of opens and closes)
  • Open/closed usage sessions derived from those events
  • Your settings (for example, rated fold cycles for the hinge-life estimate, notification preferences)

This data never leaves your device through the app. Deleting it is always available in Settings → Data → Delete local history, and uninstalling the app removes its local storage.

Sensors

Fold Stats reads the hinge-angle sensor to detect folds, using a foreground service so counting keeps working in the background (you'll see a persistent notification, as Android requires). It does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, files or any other sensitive data.

Wear OS companion

If you install the optional watch app, your fold stats are synced between your phone and your own paired watch using Android's Wearable Data Layer. This is direct device-to-device communication within your own devices — it does not involve our servers (we don't have any).

Backups and exports

You can export your data as a JSON backup or CSV file. Exports happen only when you trigger them, and the files go where you choose to save them. Files you export are under your control and outside the app. If your device has Android system backup enabled, Android may include app data in your own Google backup — that backup belongs to you and is governed by Google's terms; the developer has no access to it.

Permissions

  • Notifications — the foreground-service notification with your live stats, shown only if you allow it
  • Start at boot — so tracking resumes automatically after a restart
  • Foreground service — required by Android for continuous hinge monitoring

The app requests no internet, location, storage, camera or microphone permissions.

Children

Since no data is collected from anyone, no data is collected from children either.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated at this address and the date above will change before that version is released.
